The objective of the centre is to conduct research on climate change and its impacts on various socio economic sectors in order to assist policy makers and provide policy advice; capacity building of various institutions and create mass awareness.
The specific objectives of the Centre are:
- To keep a track of the current and likely future trends of global change (climate change, technological change etc.);
- To analyze and evaluate their likely impacts on the socio economic development in Pakistan;
- To identify how science and technology may be called upon to cope with the adverse impacts, if any, and to advise national planners on the appropriate strategic approaches;
- To enhance national capacity for Global Change research;
- To raise public awareness of Global Change related issues;
- To assist the concerned government agencies in formulation of National Climate Change Policies and Plans of Action.
